                                  Director‘s Statement:
Then She Went On Stage depicts love and affairs from a young girl’s perspective. Not only her mom and the shopkeeper’s platonic relationship, but also the romantic mother-daughter relationship made me want to write this story. When all the adults in the story worry about morality, fame, and honor, only Nan realizes that life like this is not what her mom wants, and no one but herself can help her mom get out of this. Nan is like a mirror, reflecting the anger, fear and eagerness in adults’ hearts. With so many secular worries, life could easily become a burden, but sadly, most people still choose compromises. “Love isn’t something that weak people do.” I learned the quote from the TV Show Fleabag, by which I was inspired a lot. I’m so happy to have my characters braver than we might be in real life. Then She Went On Stage is what I dedicate to brave females and females who want to be brave, and I hope you’ll enjoy watching it.
