Zhuo Xiang

Zhuo Xiang, Born in Hong Kong. Graduated from the Department of Film and Television of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, worked as an associate director of film and advertising, and participated in works including "Lust Caution" and "Intimacy". Co-directed the short film "Little Real Boyfriend" (2009) during the first Taipei Golden Horse Film Academy in 2009. He has directed two-actor documentaries about Cantonese opera and Kunqu Opera, "Gandan Road" (2012), and "A Wusheng" (2015). The films have been invited to London, New York, San Francisco, Chicago, Bordeaux, Tokyo, Beijing. And Taipei and other places for public screenings; and won the "2013 Hong Kong Arts Development Awards" Artistic Rookie Award, "Chinese Film Media Awards" Best New Director nomination and "Southern Metropolis Daily" 2014 Emerging Talent Award. In 2017, he was shortlisted for the Golden Horse Venture Capital Conference with the feature film project "Hong Kong Style Migration". The latest work "The Theatre" was nominated for the best documentary at the "56th Golden Horse Awards".
Zhuo Yu co-founded the organization "Image Transcendent" in 2012, and co-produced the award-winning feature-length documentary films "Zifeiyu" (2013) and "Companion" (2016). The two works were selected as "The 8th FIRST Youth" The best documentary in the Film Festival and the recommended film of the year in the 23rd Hong Kong Film Critics Society Awards.
In addition to film production, in 2013, he co-founded the performing arts organization "Absolute" with Japanese theater directors, and jointly planned the exchange program "Absolute Flying Plane" between Hong Kong and Tokyo. In the past four years, there have been nearly 30 artists from different art circles (including contemporary theaters). , Contemporary dance, dance stepping, modern music, opera, Cantonese opera, Noh, etc.) Artists participated in the event. His works have been exhibited in Hong Kong, Tokyo, and Yokohama. In 2017, Zhuo was invited to Tokyo Arts and Space) as an artist-in-residence to develop his new theater short series "He and I". In 2018, the work "Portrait" co-directed with composer NERVE was staged in the Hong Kong City Hall Theatre. It worked with three performing artists (Kun Opera, Noh Opera, and Opera) from different regions to extend the documentary image to the stage.
