Dr. Yishu Yang was born in Hai An, China in 1976. She is currently a professor of at Shanghai University. Before its release on DVD in 2009, Her 2006 documentary, Who is Hao Ran, was selected for the Locarno International Film Festival, Hong Kong International Film Festival, China Independent Film Festival, and China Documentary Film Festival. In addition, her 2010 documentary, On the Road, was selected for the Seoul Independent Documentary Film & Video Festival, China Independent Film Festival, and China Documentary Film Festival. One Summer ,the first fiction film of Yishu Yang, was selected for the 2014 Busan Film Festival of Korean and 2015 Vesoul Film Festival of France，win PRIX DU JURY ,also was selected for the 2015 Hamburg Film Festival of Germany and Taiwan Women Film Festival ，win Best Fiction Film of the year in Beijing Independent Film Festival. Her book, Film Within Film: A Study of Meta-Cinema, was published by Nanjing University Press in 2011.
