In my world, caution is a trap and catastrophe is always a second away. I wrote this dread into a story where the doomsday begins with a fork. It’s not a warning, but a joke told to keep the shadows at bay. By turning the solemn into the absurd and the terrifying into the charming, I strip the world of its teeth. I write to make it less scary—and to make myself feel light again.
