I had originally planned to film the ‘Spring Festival travel rush’ at Guangzhou Railway Station, but the station authorities turned me down because the shooting schedule was too long (one to two months). I then shifted my focus to the square’s police station and, surprisingly, secured filming permission. In documentary filmmaking, uncertainty is the only constant.
