Story:
"TheYukou Paper" is a kind of traditional handmade paper in Ninghua, Northwest of Fujian province. "Yu" means it is pure white and smooth with high quality, it is high glass of traditional paper. "Kou" is the ancient terms ofquantity, means one piece or two pieces. "Chinese Technology in the Seventeenth Century" records: "All of the paper which made from bamboo was produced in thesouth of China, especial Fujian province". For Manual papermaking, there are many complicated procedures. Yanglan, a Qing Dynasty scholar in Changting said: "It is very difficult and hard to succeed, need ingenious worker with dexterous hands. Among all of craftsmanship, this is the mostdifficult one." The film was taken at a small village which surrounded by forest and Wuyi Mountain. The address is Qiankeng Xiapin Village,Zhiping She town, Ninghua country. only 10 households there, no cement road till now. It is clean enough without any cementbrick house. It is said that there are more than 500 papermaking mills in prosperity period in Ninghua, and annual output is about 50,000piculs. In recent years, this manual traditional papermaking industry is discouraging. If the last traditional papermaking mill closed, people only can learn the production workmanship and ecologic scenery brieflyby the video record of this film. The producer of 'Yukou Paper' recorded the production process of Yukou Paper with lens language like poetry and painting. Atthe same time the producer expressed his deep nostalgia to the local people.
